Benefits
Mazar-I-Sharif, or simply Mazar, is an indica-dominant hybrid hailing from the union of two legends, Skunk #1 and an Afghan landrace. Despite the moderate THC levels ranging between 13 and 20%, it is a potent strain that will transport you into a serene, blissful world of relaxation, enjoyment and laughter whilst pleasing your senses with its floral taste.
Onset
This potent strain wastes no time, and its onset is almost instantaneous. The effects begin with an immediate relaxation washing over the mind and body – leaving you light and mellow, with all the tension and troubles dissipating.
A creeping sense of cerebral euphoria sets in simultaneously, sparking creativity and optimism. You will feel like the world is your oyster, wanting to share the abundance of your happiness and ideas with others. Mazar-I-Sharif makes for great conversations and plenty of laughter.
Progressively, the bodily relaxation becomes more profound as you approach the later stages of your high. You will eventually find yourself ready for a night of restful slumber – and this sensation is rather powerful. Therefore, this strain will be best to use in the evening – after a difficult, stressful day or with your good friends.
Uses
Mazar I Sharif doesn’t merely provide a fun journey; it’s also full of therapeutic potential. Its powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, bolstered by caryophyllene, can offer much-needed relief to those grappling with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, migraines or muscle spasms. Mazar can also be very beneficial in conditions associated with chronic inflammation, such as IBS or Crohn’s disease.
Due to its high linalool content, the strain also has excellent calming properties. These can soothe the overactive mind in stress and anxiety and treat insomnia, facilitating deep, restful sleep.
Side effects
Mazar is a potent strain, so using it in moderation is highly advised. Alongside cottonmouth and dry eyes, it is also known to contribute to paranoia, especially in sensitive users and those predisposed to mental health conditions. Anxiety and dizziness are also known to occur if you use too much. Thus it is best to start with a puff and then slowly increase your dosage if necessary.
Consuming Mazar-I-Sharif in the morning will likely lead to drowsiness, so it is best to keep it to the evenings only.
Taste & Smell
Mazar I Sharif’s taste and fragrance are a fascinating and complex mix. As for the aroma, the strain greets you with a fragrant floral bouquet, courtesy of its most prevalent terpene, linalool. These flowery notes are complemented by sage and an exotic blend of spices and earthy undertones, nodding to its Afghan landrace lineage. The flavour is just as delightful, with the taste of creamy lavender spiced up by peppery, hash-like notes with a strong citrus note. You may also notice some sweet and woody influences as the flavour develops.
Mazar’s spade-shade blooms are bright green, generously frosted in trichomes that shimmer in the light mixed with vivid orange pistils.
If you enjoy this floral flavour, you may also like Do Si Dos or Granddaddy Purple. Be sure also to check out our list of marijuana flowers for more linalool-dominant strains.
Origins
Mazar boasts a fabulous origin story. Born from the union of an Afghani landrace indica and Skunk #1, this strain is bound to be extraordinary, reflected in the magical, blissful relaxation it provides. Its name is a tribute to the Afghan city that also happens to be one of the most significant cannabis producers.
Growing conditions
Mazar I Sharif is a robust strain, capable of thriving in harsher conditions than many other varieties, and displays an inherent resistance to diseases and pests. It is a low-maintenance strain, perfect for first-time growers. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors, but it will flourish outdoors in a warm, dry climate, with temperatures between 20-26°C. Therefore, it can be successfully grown outdoors during Thai winter. The plants shoot up quite tall, and they are heavy yielders. Within 9 to 11 weeks, you can expect an average of 500 grams per square metre indoors and around 600-650 grams per plant outdoors.
