Benefits

Headband, affectionately dubbed “HB,” is a cannabis connoisseur’s Indica treasure, inheriting the formidable genetics of OG Kush and Sour Diesel. Its THC levels, averaging at 19% in a majority of the samples, can also go as high as 25%.

Onset

The onset of Headband’s influence is a crescendo of relief that builds up gradually. It does not hit you immediately; instead, it takes its time to arrive. When you smoke HB, you will want to be patient and not overdo it – like with edibles.

Its effects are likened to the gentle placing of a headband across the forehead – you may feel a bit of pressure on your temples, but that is just the Headband doing its thing.

Unlike the abruptness of some strains, Headband’s gradual approach allows for a paced and mindful consumption. Boasting Indica-dominant traits, body high and couchlock are almost a given – but as are euphoria and creativity.

This is not a cultivar you smoke to energise yourself; this is the kind of flower that lets you indulge in creative thinking with some music or movie in the background. As such, evenings and nights are the best times to smoke Headband.

Uses

The utility of Headband extends to a wide array of therapeutic applications. It’s a strain that has shown promise in easing the symptoms of chronic pain, muscle spasms, and arthritis, while also casting a wider net over mental health issues such as anxiety and stress. Appetite loss and nausea can also be eased with HB.

Side effects

Vigilance in consumption is advised as its potent nature may lead to dizzying effects, dry mouth, and eyes, and in rare cases, paranoia. Beginners are encouraged to tread lightly, allowing the strain to reveal its strengths without overwhelming the senses.

Taste & Smell

Citrus
Spicy
Diesel

The aesthetic allure of Headband is undeniable. Its buds, small and nugget-like, are clad in pale green, occasionally draped in purple. They glisten with trichomes, bearing proof of their potency. In fact, its high trichome count and Indica genes make Headband a worthy strain for making hash.

As for fragrance, lemon and diesel dominate the senses, underpinned by subtle skunkiness and pine. The smoke is creamy, a confluence of citrus and diesel, leaving a lasting impression on the palate.

Indica

Origins

Headband is a cross of two iconic strains – Sour Diesel and OG Kush. Some sources also say it also contains a bit of Master Kush, making HB a well-rounded Indica powerhouse. As for the breeders themselves, the jury is still out on who gave the world this epic cultivar. The opinion is split between Colorado-based Reserva Privada – which is also responsible for producing the iconic Strawberry Banana – and some unknown breeder in the world-famous Humboldt County.

Growing conditions

Headband is an easy strain to grow, with more experienced growers enjoying greater yields. It’s a resilient plant, capable of thriving indoors and out. It flowers in 10-11 weeks, producing highly skunky buds. Growers will want to implement odour-control measures to keep the smell in check. Given its high trichome production, Headband is also suitable for making concentrates and hash.
